A classical pianist raised on 80’s thrash metal and has produced a musically schizophrenic hybrid of chaos and tranquility. Kyle has made a name for himself crafting a blend of classically-infused, video game inspired, Scandinavian metal that is led by shimmering, majestic piano. This aggressive twist backing a typically soft instrument has created a unique genre that can only be called Pianometal.
Combining modern technology with traditional composition, Kyle has created a genre of music that puts the focus on an often overlooked instrument within a chaotic setting. With the release of Lore of the Immortals in 2016, he had successfully created the first ever Pianometal Concerto in three adrenaline-fused movements. After overwhelmingly positive reception and reviews, Kyle wasted no time in crafting the full length album that would truly define his iconic sound.
It was the 2017 release of Pianometal that completely solidified Kyle’s vision. A colossal 12 song album featuring 12 guest musicians from around the globe that took the metal world by storm, earning multiple nominations for album of the year from various publications; an extraordinary feat for an instrumental album. From the brutality of Hymn of Blasphemy and Eye of the Storm to the power metal infused The Road to Eternity and Orion’s Curse, Pianometal reaches over the top for a massive cinematic experience.
Kyle previously founded and fronted the modern metal outfits Shattersphere in 2002 and Triphon in 2010 as both the lead vocalist and keyboardist. He later joined Dead City Crown in 2019 and Atherna in 2020 to handle keyboards and orchestration.
In 2007, Kyle became an overnight sensation when he sang the original version of Don’t Question My Heart, the new World Wrestling Entertainment theme which debuted with acquisition of Extreme Championship Wrestling. Working directly alongside legendary WWE composer Jim Johnston at WWE headquarters was a childhood dream come true.
Throughout the past two decades he has collaborated and published work with Dirk Verbeuren (Megadeth, Soilwork), Adrienne Cowan (Avantasia, Seven Spires), Francesco Ferrini (Fleshgod Apocalypse), Elias Holmlid (Dragonland), Sean Zatorsky (Daath, Chimaira), Morten Lowe Sorenson (Amaranthe, Mercenary), Ron Zabrocki, Paul Jacovino, and many more world renowned musicians; as well as producers such as Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Amaranthe) and Adair Daufembach (Angra, Kiko Loureiro).
Kyle has been playing the CASIO Privia series since 2005 with the debut of the PX-100. In 2011 when Kyle officially became a CASIO artist, he became the first ever heavy metal pianist to join the roster in the history of the company.
Since then he has traveled to nearly 100 locations to perform, teach, and demonstrate with Casio digital pianos, and has appeared alongside Stevie Wonder, Tom Brislin (Kansas, Yes), Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater), Larry Dunn (Earth, Wind, and Fire), Shawn Stockman (Boyz II Men), and many more world class musicians.
It takes a lot of skill and vision in today’s musical market to pretty much create your own subgenre, without it just being garbage music. Morrison has created what he’s coined as ‘Pianometal’, a hybrid mix of classical music, death metal, and instrumental shred. It’s part Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Part Fleshgod Apocalypse, and part Malmsteen all done up in a blast the eyebrows off your face way. Trust me, you won’t hear anything else like it out there.

Morrison puts an aggressive twist on the usually soft sounding piano, using the instrument to enhance his heavy metal sound. And it works! Centrifuge is a musical hybrid of chaos and tranquility and is as unique a sound as I’ve heard in years.

Morrison proves that the main focus on piano and instrumental orchestral music can be just as powerful as a guitar riff or a metal scream. If you enjoy metal that combines imagination, impressive chops, creativity and the ability to shred then Kyle Morrison will be a name to watch.

Kyle returns with the world’s FIRST EVER Pianometal Concerto. Clocking in at just under 10 minutes for three movements, it’s a precursor to his first solo full length that will be released soon. Quite literally, this is the piano player’s version of HOLD MY BEER AND WATCH THIS!

Multi-talented instrumentalist Kyle Morrison has assembled quite a profound and dynamic debut full-length effort taking influence from a variety of disparate elements that takes part in a unique and stylish offering. The skill-set is obvious from the very beginning with a rapid-fire slew of twisting, challenging progressive rhythms that bring about plenty of engaging work.

This goes beyond awesomeness. It really shows when you have extraordinary talent combined with wicked compositional skills and imagination…if you don’t really, really dig this then you have to check yourself because it’s amazing!
